About Us

Background
Shoot Boxing was established in 1985, focusing on stand-up combat. Matches begin in a standing position, and the winner must also maintain a standing stance. To promote this sport, the World Shoot Boxing Association (WSBA) was formed. Currently, Shoot Boxing has overseas branches in multiple countries, including the Netherlands, France, Australia, the United States, South Korea, Brazil, Mongolia, Dubai, China, and Hong Kong China, with its scale continually expanding.

Development in Hong Kong
Since 2017, the China Hong Kong Shoot Boxing Association has collaborated with the WSBA to promote combat sports and officially became an overseas branch of the WSBA. This association is the only WSBA-recognized entity in Hong Kong and organizes various competitions each year, including rookie tournaments, elite competitions, and the Hong Kong International Championship. Events feature categories for children, youth, amateur, and professional levels, and Hong Kong teams participate in the Asian Championships and World Championships.

Professional Training
The rules of Shoot Boxing are essentially “standing MMA matches.” Competitors can use strikes involving punches, kicks, elbows, and knees, and they are also permitted to employ throws. Notably, Shoot Boxing allows the use of joint locks and chokes, but not ground techniques; therefore, if a competitor wishes to submit their opponent, it must be done while standing. Being effectively thrown, knocked down, or subjected to successful chokeholds or joint locks will result in the loss of technical points. The comprehensive skill requirements for athletes are both demanding and challenging.
